Join us and learn about expanding community-based mental health for women in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This is a project of Creamos, whose goal is to eradicate gender-based violence and economic insecurity.

This is a potluck dinner with a small educational component. Money that otherwise would be spent on dining out is donated instead.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (donations accepted) (October 18, 2026)

Donations Sought for Making Stride Against Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The American Cancer Society'sMaking Strides Against Breast Cancer annual walk -- which raises funds for research, programs and services for breast cancer survivors -- will take place in Washington Park on Sunday, Oct. 18. The WCA has supported this important cause for several years.

While we are not planning an official WCA presence this year, we are continuing to collect donations. If you would like to contribute, make your check payable to "Making Strides," drop it off at the Club or mail it to the WCA during September. The Community Service Committee will send them in together. The amount is up to you.

Let's celebrate our members, relatives and friends who have survived this cancer and those who are no longer with us.

Good Books for Good Works

A Collaboration with the Book House and Little Book House of Stuyvestant Plaza

Our annual fundraising event with the Book House of Stuyvesant Plaza will raise funds for new books for a school library. We will have news soon on the school selected for 2026.

The highlight of the evening is the presentation by Book House staff on book recommendations for adults and children.

Thursday, November 19, from 4-8 pm. The Book Talk will begin at 5:30 pm.
