In honor of Women's History Month, Lorraine Weiss, Shaker Heritage Society education coordinator and WCA member, will present "In Her Rightful Place: Women's Roles In Shaker Community."
Lorraine is a historic preservation planner and educator. She has been involved with the WCA since 2005 during the resurgence, has served on the Strategic Planning Committee, and has been coordinating Good Books for Good Works events for many years.
You may know about Shaker furniture, have seen the distinct Shaker oval boxes, hummed the Simple Gifts song (‘Tis a gift to be simple, ‘tis a gift to be free … ') and even worn a Shaker stitch sweater, but did you know that the Shakers’ first permanent settlement was right here in Albany County?
Come learn more from Lorraine's talk at March Member Monday.
