The block of Madison Avenue on which two Steefel families chose to build their twin houses is a great place to explore several layers of Albany’s history.  Join us for a walking tour led by preservation planner and educator Lorraine Weiss, who will discuss the variety of architectural styles along with the social, economic and community development history reflected by the buildings between Lake Avenue and Quail Street.

The event is part of the Woman’s Club of Albany’s centennial celebration of ownership of Joseph and Hattie Steefel’s former home at 725 Madison.  The tour begins at the Club at 10:00, will last a little over an hour, and will be followed by light refreshments on the porch of the Club.  A suggested donation of $10 is requested.  Reservations can be made online at https://womansclubofalbany.com/event-3534003  or by calling 518-465-3626.

In case of heavy rain, the tour will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 28th.  Please check the WCA website homepage on the morning of the tour if the weather is inclement.
