  Finance Committee: 

  • Monitors financial activities to fulfill the WCA’s mission in the most effective and efficient manner and to prevent the misuse or unlawful use of funds. 
  • The committee recommends fiscal procedures and guidelines; develops an annual budget; designs accurate and timely financial reports; recommends selection of, and works with, an auditor; advises the Board of appropriate financial priorities and information systems; and reports any financial irregularities, concerns or opportunities to the Board in a timely manner.

  Literacy Volunteers of the Capital Region holds a weekly Sewing, English and Workplace Skills (SEWS) class at the Women's Club of Albany. This program is designed to teach immigrant/refugee women sewing skills as well as introduce them to workplace skills, Civics, and the English language.

  Writers' Reading Group

  The Writers' Reading Group aims to foster creativity and connection among our members who write or are interested in writing.

  We will attend a special event hosted by the New York State Writers Institute featuring local literary icon William Kennedy. Details about this free event (which includes a reception with book signing and light refreshments) and a campus map follow.

  We will meet at 6:30 PM inside the building, upstairs near the Recital Hall entrance.

  Our original plan was to discuss George Saunders’s A Swim in a Pond in the Rain through “Afterthought #4” for “Master and Man.” Instead, we will discuss the entire book at our next meeting at the clubhouse on June 9.

  We hope you can join us for what should be a wonderful evening, and we look forward to continuing our discussion in June!

Yes to clean, intact items such as women and children's fall and winter clothing. Yes to vintage and new furniture, lamps, small appliances, tools, yard and garden items, art, holiday and household decorative items; accessories (hats, scarves, purses, shoes, jewelry); tableware, glassware, linens, rugs, toys and books.
